Llanfair & Meifod (OO Gauge and OO9 Narrow Gauge – David Tisdale)

The layout represents a fictional branchline to the market town of ‘Llanfair’ on the GWR, in the Welsh Marches area during the late 1920’s early 1930’s period.  The layout is built to a scale of 4mm to 1 foot using OO gauge track for the mainline standard gauge, but also includes an interchange at ‘Meifod’ with a narrow gauge line built using 9mm gauge track (commonly referred to as OO9) representing a 2ft 6” gauge line.

The standard/narrow gauge goods transfer sidings includes some dual gauge track work to allow access by both standard and narrow gauge railways.  All of the narrow gauge locos and rolling stock, and much of the standard gauge rolling stock were hand made by David either from modified kits, or scratch built from a variety of materials.
